CNC Machine Shop Manager

Job Description

Proto Technologies is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Shop Manager position in Liberty Lake, Washington. The CNC Machine Shop Manager is responsible for supervising all machine shop personnel and scheduling CNC production on both mills and lathes. This role will direct and supervise approximately 10-15 machinists on three shifts in such a way to exceed company expectations for productivity, safety, quality, and cost effectiveness. This role will also assist in the entry of manufacturing in the world of government 8(a) contracting.

An ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • 5+ years’ managing teams and hands on experience of running CNC mill and lathe projects ranging from basic to highly complex components, including programing, setup, and operation of a diverse range of machine tools.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office to perform daily work.
  • Superb communication skills, including written and verbal instruction.
  • Strong demonstrated experience in managing change with teams and development of other leaders in continuous improvement methodologies.
  • The ideal candidate will have a love for a fast-paced and multi-focused work environment.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, develop and inspire a team of machinists that are responsible for the daily operations to achieve key performance indicators.
  • Drive team building and cross functional collaboration for daily operational objectives as well as strategic direction changes for the team.
  • Facilitate collaboration with customers and internal teams to achieve established lead time and quality goals.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities in both process and people-oriented activities.
  • Provide personnel development plans, give feedback on performance, and administer annual reviews and compensation plans with direct leaders and their teams.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze data and develop action plans for improvements. Review, educate and monitor ongoing performance to achieve goals.
  • Lead creative problem solving and troubleshooting activities for failures and other improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in developing and communicating shop goals. Work with teams to create plans for achieving and improving in targeted areas.
  • Develop and/or revise manufacturing processes, procedures, work instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a machinist required, including knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing techniques, raw materials, tooling, and fixturing.
  • Associates or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 3-5 years of direct, hands-on CAM programming knowledge.
  • Ability to comprehend complex detailed drawings (mechanically inclined mindset).
  • Good skills with all Microsoft Office Products.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year DOE
